Nestled within the 240,690ha Tambopata National Reserve -one of the most bio-diverse ecosystems in the world lies Explorer's Inn Amazon rainforest lodge & research station. It was here that world records in bird, butterfly and dragonfly biodiversity have been set and to this day remains the best lodge on the Tambopata river for wildlife sightings. Explorer's Inn was the first ecotourism lodge to be built in the region and is the only lodge situated fully within the boundary of the Tambopata National Reserve in the province of Madre-de-Dios. The lodge itself is located in a picturesque setting at the confluence of the La Torre and Tambopata rivers, 60 km upriver from Puerto Maldonado.
